Can I get my money back for a Florida Condo resale deal where I have not sign the papers?

I was contacted by a condo realtor to sale my condo in Orlando. He requested $500 up front to sale condo, which was paid through the bank. Through others, I found out that many have lost though this type of deal. I have not signed any contracts. What steps do I need to take to get my $500 back?

The $500 is for the realtor’s work. You have not sign the papers..there is no deal.

You wont get it back most likely and any attempts will have to be made through a lawyer…which will cost you way more than 500. Next time you give a deposit…get something in writing that you will receive said monies if the deal falls through. Good luck.

Realtors are usually paid on commission by the seller once the deal is closed. I dont see why you had to pay upfront especially since no papers have been signed. I think you got ripped off because there’s no contract proving anything. Try contacting the broker of the agent. If you’re dealing with a broker then i suggest you contact the Florida Association of Realtors and explain the situation they’re there to protect you and im sure if it’s illegal they’ll let you know. Best of luck!
