It wouldn’t turn off, and flooded our condo and flood the condo beneath us. The condo beneath has water damage and needs drying. We do not have renters’ insurance. My questions is, is the washing machine manufacturer responsible if it floods and causes damage such as this? The damage is not my fault!

I checked all my sinks, toilets, water heater, showers, etc. No leak from those. Everything is dry. I found a damp spot in the central heat and air compartment, but none of the units or pipes that are exposed are leaking. I suspect a pipe running between the floors may be leaking. Am I liable regardless of the circumstances just because I live upstairs? I wasn’t negligent and I can’t get to a pipe in the floor. I’m afraid I may be forced to pay. I have insurance, but what if it doesn’t cover everything? I live in a condo.

It is going to foreclose. It is vacant and was vandalized with flooding some time in the past few days and is terribly damaged.

If the bank is taking it away, could I be held negligent for not mitigating the damages from the obvious water damage caused by the vandalism?

Could I be liable for damage to the neighbors property from the water seaping into their walls?

Do you know the foreclosure process? What might expect after the foreclosure if the second lender has to take a huge loss?
No insurance, not investment property, the property has been secured. The flooding was due to the vandalism, someone went into the property, plugged up all sinks and turned on the water. It was apparently on for days. I just found out since I live somewhere else now. A police report was filed but it was by the HOA, I have to order a copy in the mail. I know the water has been turned off but the place has been soaked for days. The upstairs soaked the floors so much that caused damage to the downstairs ceiling. It is just awful, so I hear.

I think finding a real estate attorney is a good idea, I will likely oblige. I have a bankruptcy attorney in the family that has been trying to help me (a little) but I should probably find someone that specializes in real estate.
The 2nd mortgage is for $85k, and I have $0. No choice but to foreclose if they refused to take the short sale offer.

our landlady came over(we rent a condo) and all shes going to do is check to see about the warenty on our washer. i dont think she is going to take out the carpet, so what can we do to make it dry and not smell???

He wasn’t able to find the source, or determine how bad it is. The bank that owns the house (it was a foreclosure) probably won’t be willing to fix it. What can I do to see how bad the damage really is? Should I be really worried? Since they couldn’t find a source, I’m not too worried, but part of me still thinks something fishy is going on… Please help!
The reason I know the bank made repairs, is because in the pictures of the condo online there are pergo floors, but in the condo, there is brand new carpet and cheap laminate flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms. The bank has owned this property the entire time it has been online. What are they trying to hide? Wouldn’t they only go to that expense if the damage was REALLY bad?

My Tenant was out for a few days.
At this time some pipe got frozen and the water damage got occured due to low temperature in the appartment.
My Tenant is claiming that the Thermostat was broken.
However he did not mentioned that to us.
I have no Homeowner insurance policy but Master Policy which doesn’t cover anything inside the building.
Who should be responsible for the cost of repair?
