I live in a condo Recently there was a water leak in the common wall-?

The Homeowners association said they will put back the dry wall, but will not repair any of my floors, custom painting or any other interior finishes. They repaired the leak and had a mold remediation co. take out all the damaged walls, baseboards, door frames. The leak was in a common wall that services water to the unit living above the garage. The Property Management and the Association Board said that they will not repair or pay for finishing in either my unit or the next door neighbor that was affected. Is there a way to fight this…I need help…Thanks you!

Do either you personally or the Homeowners association have homeowners insurance? If so, then the only thing that ether of you will be out is the deductible.

You should first check you condo’s rules or covenants to see if there is anything written about this type of situation. Seems to me that since it was the water pipes for another person’s unit that did the damage it shouldn’t be you who has to pay to fix your stuff that was damaged as a result. You can always contact an attorney.
