Water damage in the condo, what are my rights?

Suddenly today, water started coming out the A/C vents and it damaged alot of my stuff inclusing furniture because its has a strong odor and color. Its a condo I am renting from an individual owner through a property management company.

What are my rights in the state of Nevada, will they pay for my damages? if I have to go to court, what chances do I have?

Thanks
Well I dont have Renter’s Insurance but it seems like the leak was caused by the upstair’s condo, now what?

Unless they were in some way negligent, then its unlikely they will pay for this. This is what renters insurance is for, the landlords insurance typically only covers the building and their contents in it (appliances and such), so its unlikely they will pay for this. You could still ask, but don’t get your hopes up.

Generally this is what Renters Insurance is for. The only way that the landlord would be responsible for this is if he/she were somehow negligent and that caused the damage.

For example if you saw a small leak and reported it to the landlord then the landlord did nothing. The small leak grew into a big leak and then items were damaged. That could show that the landlord was responsible for the damage.

    Good Luck!

No one will be held liable. Your items are specifically NOT covered under the home owners insurance, they are to be covered under your insurance. The fact that you opted not to have insurance does not change things and make anyone else liable for your belongings. Suing will get you no where, you are the one that decided not to unsure your stuff.
