You should go out and buy some (although it wouldn't cover broken pipes anyway). I've seen this before and I've seen the landlord have to repair the structure but not anything that was damaged from the water AND I've seen the tenant be responsible for everything because the law says you have to write problems down and give it to your landlord in order to have a case.
